Four-tier security plan for Muharram

LAHORE: The Punjab police approved on Thursday a four-tier security plan for Muharram, deploying over 125,000 personnel across the province.

The security plan was approved in a meeting of the regional police officers (RPOs), chaired by Inspector General of Police retired Capt Arif Nawaz, at the Central Police Office.

A press release said the RPOs and district police officers (DPOs) briefed the meeting on the security plan for their areas through a video conference.

According to the plan, about 124,537 police personnel will be deputed for security of 36,216 majalis in the province. Of the total strength, 37,398 are qaumi razakars, 85,515 volunteers and 5,580 personnel of the special police.
