Strict action to be taken against cops involved in criminal activities: IGP

Inspector General of Police Punjab Capt (R) Arif Nawaz Khan Wednesday said that strict action would be taken against cops found involved in criminal activities.
Addressing a police Darbar here at Police Line, the IGP said, no police force could succeed in controlling crime without cooperation of the citizens and police officers should enhance their interaction with the citizens at every level.

The complainants who visit police stations should be dealt politely and respectfully as rude attitude of police officials would not be tolerated, he warned.
Arif Nawaz Khan said, there was no space for officials found backing the criminals and lawbreakers.

Regional Police Officer, Muhammad Wisal Fakhar Sultan Raja, City Police Officer, Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi, DPOs of Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, City Traffic Officer, Rawalpindi Shahid Yousaf and senior police officers, constables of Counter Terrorism Department, Punjab Highway Patrol, Special Branch and officials of Rawalpindi region were present on the occasion.

The IGP said, revolutionary steps were being taken for the welfare and protection of cops. Efforts were being made for the restoration of risk allowance, in time promotion of officers, provision of bullet proof jackets and latest weapons, he said adding, a transparent and comprehensive process for accountability of cops had also been introduced.
In order to change police station culture, front desks were set up in police stations while with the help of IT, registration of FIR was being made transparent. In case of any problem, online complaint can be registered which is monitored by senior police officers.
