Traffic Police Launch Rasta Application for Motorists

LAHORE: Punjab IG Arif Nawaz Khan has said traffic management system is being reformed with modern technology to facilitate passengers during their journey and inform them about traffic updates. 

The IGP said Rasta Application will be a game-changer in traffic management of Lahore police. 
With Rasta Application, citizens will benefit from different traffic services like route plan updates, online challan payment, e-licensing and other features from traffic police and it will also save precious time of citizens. He expressed these views at the inauguration ceremony of Rasta Application launched in collaboration with PITB at CPO office here on Thursday. 

The IG said it is an appreciable step by the traffic police to introduce such modern application to inform citizens about protests, sit-ins, roadblocks and other emergency situations on roads. He hoped the app will facilitate the citizens and minimise distance between citizens and police. He said the police have improved their image in public and increased capabilities of the department with the help of modern technology. With this technology, police checked crimes. The IG acknowledged the collaboration of PITB with Punjab police and hoped it will further help for creation of new projects for relief of citizens. Lahore CTO Rai Ejaz Ahmad briefing about Rasta App said the app may be downloaded by any citizen on mobile phones easily and the citizens may enjoy the latest traffic updates, travel guide and other facilities. 
Moreover, citizens can know about the broken roads, he said and added before the inauguration almost 16,000 denizens have downloaded the app. The response of the app from citizens was satisfactory by which more features are being added to this app. In addition to it, more driving schools will be established for traffic facilitation of the citizens, the CTO said. 

PITB Chairman Umar Saif on the occasion said the Punjab police have set a precedent for equipping it with modern technology. IT projects of Punjab police are a role model for other provinces and other institutions have shown their interest in these projects, he said and added with the cooperation of Punjab police and PITB many welfare projects have been completed during two-and-half-year time and many projects are still under way. After the completion of these projects, community and smart policing will control the ratio of crimes, he added. In the end of the ceremony, souvenirs were exchanged between officers of Punjab police and PITB.
