Security Beefed up in Punjab: IGP

LAHORE:  Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP), Capt (R) Arif Nawaz Khan on Sunday issued directions to put security on high alert in the province, following the Quetta blast.

According to the police, the IGP directed the officials to further beef up security at all sensitive places in Punjab. In addition, all Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) have also been directed to personally monitor all the security arrangements in their respective areas.

The provincial police chief also ordered tight security arrangements at all entry and exit points of the province and enhanced patrolling to maintain law and order.

The DIG operations directed the officials deployed at the entry and exit points of the city to remain vigilant and said that the security had been enhanced outside all parks and churches in the city. He said that personnel of the Police Response Unit (PRU) and Dolphin Force would also ensure effective patrolling in the city.

The divisional SPs would conduct visits to all recreational places in the provincial metropolis to review security arrangements.
