BAHAWALPUR: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed on Tuesday to have arrested three terrorists belonging to banned outfits Emarat-i-Islami, Afghanistan, and the Tehreek-i-Ghalba-i-Islam (TGI) with hand grenades and explosives and foiled their attempt to attack some sensitive installations.

According to the CTD spokesman, a team working on a tip-off that the alleged terrorists had planned to attack important installations raided Houtwala village near southern bypass of the city and arrested three suspects who were later identified as Abu Ameer, Muhammad Muddasar and Muhammad Taqi.

The CTD team, said the spokesman, recovered from them two kilogram explosive material, meter safety fuse, non-electronic detonators and ball bearings. A case against them has been registered with the CTD police and they have been shifted to an unknown place for further investigation.

The spokesman said both these outfits were the splinter groups of the banned Lashkar-i-Jhangvi (LJ).
