Campaign against forced and bonded labour at Bricks Kilns

Inspector General Police Punjab Captain retired Arif Nawaz Khan has said that campaign against forced and bonded labour at bricks kilns should be boosted up across Punjab and DPOs should inspect themselves the bricks kilns in their respective districts and ensure a strict legal actions against owners and managers who are found guilty in bonded labour. He added that by taking all available resources, a comprehensive fool proof security plan should be devised for Mosques, Imam Bargahs and other congregations in the wake of arrival of Shab e Barat and Holy month of Ramzan. Moreover, snipers and plain clothes commandos should be deployed at sensitive worship places while search, sweep, combing and intelligence based operations should be speeded up in the vicinity of mosques and Imam Bargahs. He further, said that no delay shall be tolerated for delay of complaints cell 8787 for adressal of complaints by people, and letters of displeasure shall be issued to officers who show laziness, negligence and delay of resolution of complaints registered by citizens and all RPOs should ensure monitoring of all complaints received by 8787 complaints cell themselves. He expressed these views while addressing to video link conference to all RPOs. Addl IG D&I Ejaz Hussain shah, CCPO Lahore cap.ret. Ameen Wains, DIG Legal Abdul Rub chaudhary, DIG Operations Lahore, Dr Haider Ashraf, DIG telecommunications Shahid Javed, AIG Operations Imran Mahmud and SP security Ammara Athar with other officers were present in conference.

Senior police officers while briefing to IG Punjab have told that swift actions are started against bonded labour on bricks kilns in the wake of elimination campaign of bonded labour across all districts of Punjab during last two days by which 182 cases have been registered against owners and managers of kilns arresting 122 individuals. Among arrested persons, there are 85 owners of kilns and 37 are managers of kilns. IG Punjab has further been explained that 3113 bricks kilns have been inspected under supervision of DPOs and SDPOs in all districts of province while 255 children have been recovered from these kilns under child labour Act 2016. Upon which, IG Punjab has emphasized upon further quick proceedings. IG Punjab was further told that during holy month of Ramzan 32585 mosques and imam bargahs have been categorized into A,B,C categories, in which more thanĀ  65000 officers, personnel and volunteers are being deputed for security during five times prayers and Traweeh. In this aspect, security plans are being formulated in all districts. IG Punjab has applauded the security efforts of CCPO Lahore capt. retired Muhammad Ameen wains and DIG operations Lahore Dr Haider Ashraf and also acknowledged the performance of Lahore police on the event of PTI procession at Minar e Pakistan. He said that other police should also follow the performance of Lahore police.
