Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Sargodha has averted a terrorist attack by arresting Muhammad Safdar, a member of banned organization Lashkar-e-Jhangvi. A suicide jacket and 2 hand grenades have been recovered in an effective intelligence based operation by CTD.
According to CTD’s spokesman, the terrorist named Muhammad Safdar has been arrested from Pull Seemnala Chak 104 near Sargodha Bypass and a suicide jacket and two hand grenades has been recovered. During initial investigation, the terrorist confessed that his mission was to target a senior officer of intelligence agency, however, CTD averted the attack by taking prompt action.
The aforementioned terrorist is linked with Lashkar-e- Jahngvi as well as Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. A case has been registered against him according to 7ATA and other sections for further investigation so that information could be gathered to prevent other such attacks in future. IG Punjab lauded the efforts of CTD and directed that the forces shall remain on high alert during Eid-ul-Azha to avert all such efforts/planning that could sabotage the peaceful environment.
