First time in history of Pakistan, Punjab Police introduced discipline matrix in order to maintain restoration of public trust, accountability of Police force and discipline, IG Punjab Amjad Javed Saleemi issued standing order in this regard.

First time in history of Pakistan, Punjab police introduced a discipline matrix in order to restore public trust and maintain accountability and discipline of police force. IG Punjab issued standing order in this regard.

According to this standing order, the main purpose of discipline matrix is to map out a disciplinary procedure by which no officers could punish any official by his own liking and disliking and he will be bound to obey the devised procedure of discipline matrix which has been chalked out according to international standard in which 13 types of misconduct have been defined. Absence from duty, professional misconduct, carelessness, official negligence, negligence during security duty, mistake in investigation, registering of wrong sections during investigations and registration of cases deliberately, corrupt practices including getting money from facilitator of criminals, kick backs, illegal possession of criminal’s belongings, extortion and illegal gratification by their companions and subordinate, spreading of sensitive information of police will be punished from minor punishments to termination from service by this discipline matrix.

IG Punjab directed all field officers that they should work for restoration of public trust on police and if any official is found in any negligence should be punished by this discipline matrix and ensures its implementation without any pressure and personal liking and disliking. It has also been directed to ensure the trust of the force by this standing order and do justice with force at any cost because this force has to work day and night for protection of wealth and lives of people. IGP said that the future of innocent people should not darken by giving them illegal punishments.
