Apr 23, 2019

Punjab Police Inspector General (IG) Cap (R) Arif Nawaz, on Monday, claimed that the body had no other option but to improve their performance.

There was no room for laziness or negligence, he maintained.

“We have to improve the image of police in the public and for this purpose, Police would have to change their attitude with the public and take further strict steps to control crimes,” Cap Nawaz added.

To achieve this target, practical steps in place of mere rhetoric were said to be needed.

He expressed these views during his maiden address in the capacity of Punjab IG to the Police Darbar at Police Lines, Rawalpindi.

" Cops have to change attitude with public for image-building: Capt (R) Nawaz"

Rawalpindi Regional Police Officer (RPO) Ahmed Ishaq Jehangir; Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Abbas Ahsan; District Police Officers (DPOs) of Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal; senior Police officers of Rawalpindi Range as well as Station House Officers (SHOs) and other officials were present on this occasion.

Punjab Police IG said that as many as 54,000 police officers and officials faced disciplinary action due to various violations every year.
