An MOU was inked between Punjab Police and University of Health Sciences to enhance bilateral cooperation.
This MOU will help improving efficiency of officers and officials of Punjab Police in Forensic Science.

Inspector General of Police Punjab Captain retired Arif Nawaz Khan said that to meet challenges of modern policing, training of Police officers and officials in accordance with the modern and professional parameters is the need of time which is being ensured with up gradation of training system and extending cooperation and liaison with other prominent institutions so that officers and officials in the field may easily solve the issues with their professional skills. He further said that MOU signed with university of health sciences will enhance capabilities of investigation officers with respect to forensic science and also helpful to citizens saving them in case of heart attack on highways by providing traffic police the training of use of life kits. He said that with the help of MOU, the investigation officers will not only collect evidences from the crime scene but also they will be trained to archive these evidences. He said that these evidences will be helpful for better examination of witnesses and their effective use in the investigation by which police officers will be able to serve more efficiently. These views were expressed by IG Punjab during a signage ceremony of MOU between Punjab Police and University of Health Sciences regarding enhancing bilateral cooperation between them.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Javed Akram led the delegation of University of health sciences whereas Addl IG Training Tariq Masood Yaseen, DIG R&D Abdul Qadir Qayyum, DIG Crime Jawad Ahmad Dogar, CTO Lahore Captain retired Liaqat Ali Malik along with other senior officers were present at this occasion.
Vice Chancellor of University of Health Sciences Dr Javed Akram acknowledged the MOU a welcoming step and said that University of Health Sciences is launching a pilot project with traffic police Lahore under which traffic police Punjab will be trained about use of life kits and its practical training with the help of university of Health Sciences. By use of these life kits precious lives of citizens on roads will be saved and precautionary measures will be ensured. On this occasion IG Punjab thanked to Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Javed Akram and said that the MOU with University of Health Sciences is start of a long term partnership and with the help of this MOU, the instructors of University of Health Sciences will deliver lectures of forensic science to trainee officials in training schools and colleges whereas medical experts of university will participate in traffic police awareness camps and apprise the citizens about the medicines which should not be taken while driving so that the citizens may avoid such medicines before driving. He added that teams of University of Health Sciences will conduct blood screening of Police officials in all districts of Punjab and also undertake research regarding provision of facilities in accordance with healthy and hygienic atmosphere given to police officials in police lines. He moreover said that a four member joint committee will monitor and start all initiatives with respect to bilateral cooperation. These members of joint committee will consist of two members from each organization selected by their chiefs. He further said that traffic police officers will deliver lectures about traffic rules awareness to students of medical colleges under administration of University of Health Sciences whereas University of Health Sciences will conduct B.S, M Phil and PhD programs for officers and officials of Punjab Police in institutions which come under administration of University of Health Sciences in which major focus will be on human resource development and improvement in service delivery in connection with research goals. In the end of the ceremony, honorary souvenirs were exchanged between IG Punjab and vice chancellor.
