IG Punjab reviewed security arrangements and issued  directions regarding Youm E Hazrat Ali on 21stRamzan.

Inspector General of Police Punjab Captain Retired Arif Nawaz Khan said that four layered security should be provided by utilizing all available resources for security arrangements of mourning processions and Majalis on the day of martyrdom of  Hazrat  Ali on 21st Ramzan. He further added that DPOs and RPOs  should carve out security plan of Youm e Ali in accordance with the already established  SOPs under their supervision and also monitor security duties in the field whereas the beneficial opinions of organizers and administrators of Majalis and processions should also be considered positively .  No mourners should be allowed to enter into procession before checking by walk through gates and metal detectors whereas snipers should be deployed over roof tops on the ways of procession and also plain clothed commandos should be deployed in routes of processions. He directed that additional squads of women police officials should be deployed for checking of women mourners and parking areas should be set up 100 feet away from A category mosques and Imam bargahs. He further said that delay in police action on the cases of child abduction or violence and rape etc against children will not be tolerated, in such cases RPOs and DPOs should personally visit the crime scene and should take stern legal action against offenders without any delay. He further said that no tolerance will be shown regarding delay in following the orders from central Police Office; irresponsible officers should ready be for departmental action. He directed to enhance patrolling hours of dolphin and other patrolling forces so that street criminals and other anti social elements should be eliminated. He moreover said that search, sweep and combing operations in city areas of all districts along with in “Katchi Abadi” should be conducted in order to ensure arrest of anti social elements. IG Punjab said that legal action should be taken against owners of the house and tenants against violation of tenancy act without any delay especially the scrutiny of documents of the citizens staying in vicinity of bus and railway stations and hotels should be ensured. These views expressed by him while chairing a video link RPOs and DPOs conference.

Addl: IG Operations Punjab Inam Ghani while briefing to IG Punjab told that more than 39255 police officers, officials and volunteers will perform security at the event of Yum E Ali across Punjab. Among them 359 gazetted officers, 611 inspectors, 1543 sub inspectors, 2171 ASIs, 2618 head constables, 18258 constables, 5222 police volunteers, 1923 special police officials, 4887 male volunteers whereas 1663 women volunteers are included. Moreover 280 walk through gates, 3906 metal detectors and 1364 CCTV cameras for monitoring of processions and Majalis will be installed. IG Punjab while directing to officers said that the security arrangements of last Friday of Ramzan in forthcoming week should also be considered positively along with security of Yum E Ali and also boost up the security of markets, banks, Ramzan bazaars, shrines and shopping centers. He said that senior officers should take steps under their supervision to ensure protection of lives and properties of people. The process of surprise visits should be continued and officials deployed over there for security purpose should be briefed in detail about the sensitivity of their duties so that they may perform their duties diligently. He furthermore directed that the process of checking and monitoring for arrest of  criminals and anti social elements on inter provincial and inter districts check posts should be tightened. IG Punjab emphasized that additional force should be deployed on all important highways and roads of the province to control issues of traffic management especially during time of Aftar in the last decade of holy month and traffic flow should be maintained without any interruption. IG Punjab further added that if any district face trouble with respect to shortage of resources for security arrangements then it should inform to operations branch of central police office Lahore at the earliest so that quick provision of resources should be ensured.
