Inspector General Police Punjab Captain (R) Arif Nawaz Khan said that officials deputed for the security of Mosques, Imambargahs and Eid prayers in open areas should perform their duty on high alert with zeal, hard work, and commitment while CCPO Lahore and other senior officers should personally visit to review the security arrangements so that citizens should be able to enjoy the festivity of Eid with religious sentiment without apprehension and fear. He further said that extra force should be deployed for the security of important markets and roads and action against one wheelers, aerial firing should be taken without any delay. He further said that officials in civvies should also be deputed for the security of shopping centres and markets while a swift action should be taken against eve teasers and to control street crimes more effective patrolling of Peru, Dolphin should be ensured. He further exclaimed sorrow on the unfortunate death of 5 men due to ingestion of poisonous liquor, to avoid such incidents under the supervision of SP a special operations should be initiated against the elements involved in the sale purchase and preparation of poisonous liquor immediately arresting them and daily progress report of the crackdown should also be shared with Central Police Office. He further directed to depute extra force specially lady police officials for the security of families visiting the parks and other recreational places during eid holidays also ensuring the monitoring through CCTV. He expressed these views while addressing an important meeting of senior police officers regarding eid security.
During meeting IG Punjab directed CCPO Lahore that as Lahore is provincial capital and an important city so CCPO and DIG Operations should ensure the security of A category Mosques, Imambargah and other sensitive places according to the security plan by using all available resources. He further said that during Eid holidays steps should be ensured according to the SOP for the smooth flow of traffic while joint teams of traffic and operations for traffic management and important roads like Mall and a strict legal action should be taken against the one wheelers and bike racers. He further said that teams of special branch will cooperate with all districts police for the Eid security arrangements and intelligence based operations will be carried out against anti social elements. He further directed to carry out joint operations in coordination with district administration to stop over charging in buses so that citizens travelling on Eid can travel without any difficulty. He further directed to keep a tight control on the kite flying to avoid loss of precious lives.
