IG Punjab Captain (R) Arif Nawaz Khan presided an important meeting at CPO regarding Criminal Record Management System.

IG Punjab directed to form a 5 member committee to further improve the Criminal Record Management System.

Inspector General Police Punjab Captain (R) Arif Nawaz Khan said that without the effective use of information technology modern policing is not possible so Punjab Police should improve its IT Projects specially Criminal Record Management System to rectify false cases against citizens on priority basis. While issuing directions to form a 5 member committee for the up gradation of Criminal Record Management System he said that the committee should submit its recommendations within 10 days to discuss amendments in its working in next meeting of Police Executive Board.  He further said that due to the Police Khidmat Marakaz citizens are much facilitated now regarding the issuance of character certificate however to further facilitate them content and language of character certificate are being made more clear. He expressed these views while issuing directions to senior officers in a high level meeting at Central Police Office.

During meeting DIG IT Zulfiqar Hameed briefed IGP about the performance and up gradation of different IT projects, he shared that Punjab Police is using information technology to control crime according to the principles of smart and community policing and currently in Criminal Record Management System there are particulars of more than 1.3 million criminals are available, this system is also attached to all inter-provincial and inter-district check posts due to which process of monitoring and arrest of anti social elements is going on effectively. IG Punjab said that Criminal Record Management System is an important project for monitoring of criminal elements and crime control and its up gradation is also necessary so all senior officers should ensure the timely data entry of criminal elements and citizens involved or acquitted / cleared from petty or false crimes/FIR,s should be updated to avoid citizens from unnecessary botherance. During meeting DIG IT Zulfiqar Hameed, DIG Crime Jawad Ahmad Dogar, DIG IAB Ahsan Younas, DIG Operations Lahore Ashfaq Ahmad Khan and other senior officers were present.
