Eight held for firing on Lahore-Karachi train

TOBA TEK SINGH: Gojra City police on Sunday arrested eight people for firing on a Lahore-Karachi 44-down Shah Hussain Express on Friday night at Gojra in which a passenger had received a critical bullet injury.

A press release issued by the district police office’s spokesperson, Attaullah, said that when the Shah Hussain Express reached near a railway crossing in Gojra, unidentified people opened fire on it. One of the bullets pierced a window of a bogie and hit a passenger who was critically wounded. He was identified as Kashif Ali of Mandi Bahauddin, who was rushed to Gojra THQ hospital where doctors had referred him to Faisalabad’s Allied Hospital.

The press release added that a case under Section 324 of PPC was registered on the complaint of the train’s guard, Muhammad Nawaz, against unidentified persons. Gojra City police traced the suspects and arrested them. They were identified as Osama Ghaffari, Ali Hussnain, Muhammad Hussnain, Ali Raza Jat, Umer Nawaz, Mian Umer and Muhammad Nabeel, and were being interrogated.

DISGRACED: Ten people have been arrested for allegedly shaving the mustache, eyebrows and hair of a boy over suspicions of an illicit relation in Chak 286-GB on Sunday.

Rajana police registered a first information report on the complaint of Saeed Akram of Chak 291-GB under sections 506, 342, 355, 148 and 149 of PPC, who stated that his younger brother Suhail went to Chak 286-GB by car where Talha, Bilal, Arshad, Talib, Roheel, Faisal, Awais, Shahzad, Sultan and Abdul Rehman overpowered him, took him to a house and accused him of having illicit relations with their relative. They painted his face with black paint, shaved his mustache, eyebrows and hair and recorded his video.

Police have arrested the suspects.
