MUZAFFARGARH: A newborn was traced and recovered after she was kidnapped from the hospital four days after her birth on Monday. The kidnapper was arrested, who confessed to have committed the crime.

The incident had taken place on Monday in the Chowk Qureshi area and District Police Officer (DPO) Sadiq Ali Dogar had given two days to police to recover the newborn.

Muhammad Ibrahim had got married to Bushra Bibi a year ago after he could not have a child with two of his previous wives.

Ibrahim was working in Saudi Arabia and had taken Bushra with him after marriage. However, she was in Dera Ghazi Khan for the last nine months.

On the day of the incident, her cousin’s newborn child Kinza was kidnapped from the hospital and the parents registered a case against unidentified people at the Chowk Qureshi police station. When the baby’s family approached the DPO, he asked Deputy Superintendent of Police Ashiq Khosa to probe the matter within two days.

During investigation, police interrogated Bushra during which she initially claimed that she was in hospital where she had given birth and even had documents proving the delivery. When police pressed her further, she confessed that she had kidnapped Kinza, faked the child birth or that she was admitted to hospital. She added that she had asked a private hospital to admit her for some days and issue documents about a child delivery.

The DPO said that a case had been registered against Bushra.
