Minor recovered from fields nine hours after kidnap

TOBA TEK SINGH: Police on Monday recovered a three-year-old boy nine hours after he was allegedly kidnapped and thrown into fields and arrested the suspect.

District Police Officer Waqar Shoaib Qureshi told a press conference here on Monday that three-year-old Muhammad Hasan of Bakshi Park locality of Toba Tek Singh was playing outside his house when he suddenly disappeared at 4:30pm on Sunday.

He said after receipt of information, a team with the help of CCTV cameras took into custody a 17-year-old youth Hammad.

The DPO quoted the suspect as saying that he (Hammad) kidnapped the boy, took him some five kilometers away outside Chak 323 JB QaImpur located on Toba-Gojra Road and strangled him over rejection of his marriage proposal by a family member of the child. The DPO said the suspect threw the minor in fields and he was alive.

The boy was rushed to district headquarters hospital where doctors resuscitated him and plastered his fractured arm. Later, the minor was referred to Faisalabad for further treatment.

City police have registered a case against the arrested suspect under section 302 and 363 of Pakistan Penal Code.

SUICIDE: A man committed suicide on Monday near Gojra.

Police said Ghulam Ishaq, 40, of Chak 344-JB was jobless and worried about his financial circumstances. On Monday, he laid on the railway track near Chak 94-JB and was run over and killed by Akbar Bugti Express.
