More than 62 thousand officers and officials are being deputed for the security of 1585 Mehfil-e-Milad and 2363 processions of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) celebrations

Inspector General Police Punjab Capt (r) Arif Nawaz Khan directed to ensure security of sensitive processions and Mahafil of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) utilizing all available resources  and all RPOs and DPOs should personally monitor security arrangements and traffic management so that public can participate in the celebrations of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) without any fear or apprehensions. He further said that Special security arrangements should be ensured for the minority worship places on the route of central processions of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH). He further said that in sensitive districts CCTV cameras, metal detectors and walk through gates must be used for the security of processions and also search sweep and combing operations must be geared up in the vicinity of important mosques shrines markets and religious places. He further directed to consider the suggestions of civil society, organisers of processions, local religious scholars and notables while making security arrangements also a strict action without any delay must be ensured against the elements involved in fireworks and aerial firing. He also directed special protection unit to perform their duty at high alert for the security of foreigners visiting the province especially all RPOs and DPOs arrange the security of the guests coming at the inauguration ceremony of Kartar Pur Corridor in their personal supervision. He also directed to speed up the intelligence based operations to arrest the proclaimed offenders across all districts ensuring the arrest of top 20 proclaimed offenders of every district.  He also said that if there is an increase in the crime rate due to the free registration of FIR than there should also be an increase in the number of solved cases and arrest of the accused he also said that to control the crime is also a major responsibility of the police and any police officer or official unable to control the crime will be removed from field posting.

He also directed the DPOs to review the pending cases of oversees Pakistanis and conclude them in their own supervision he warned that in case of any negligence or delay in overseas Pakistani cases departmental action will be taken.

He further directed to speed up the crackdown against the drug peddlers and intelligence based operations in the vicinity of educational institutes’ hostels and other places so that all such elements could be brought to justice. He expressed these views while presiding RPOs DPOs video link conference at Central Police Office today. During conference security arrangements for Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH), crime graph, arrest of proclaimed offenders and crackdown against the drug peddlers were discussed in detail.

During meeting Addl IG Operations Inam Ghani briefed on security arrangements for Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) celebrations that in all districts total 62274 officers and officials are being deputed for the security of 1585 Mehfil-e-Milad and 2363 processions across Punjab. Among these are 404 gazetted officers 923 inspectors 2734 sub inspectors, 5058 ASIs 4081 head constables, 40451 constables, 7953 police national volunteers and 670 special police officials while for the security of sensitive processions and Mehfil e Milad 187 walkthrough gates 8344 metal detectors and 2654 CCTV camera will also be installed. IG Punjab also directed officers to brief on duty officials about the sensitivity of their duty so that they could perform their duty at high alert with more dutifulness and responsibility. He also directed to ameliorate the security arrangements of foreigners and minority worship places after thorough review ensuring the steps on priority basis for the security of foreigners’ experts and investors. He also directed to speed up the crackdown against the criminals in all districts across Punjab during the month of November and December and to put the absconders behind bars. He also appreciated the crackdown against drug peddlers and directed to speed up the crackdown to permanently eliminate the elements involved in the heinous trade.
