On instructions of IG Punjab Shoaib Dastgir 15-day special campaign of Punjab Highway Patrol against criminal elements is continued.

During the last fortnight, 1292 accused were arrested and a large quantity of illegal arms and drugs were also recovered.

The process of inspection and monitoring is being  accelerated along with crackdowns to protect highways. Addl: IGP Captain (R) Zafar Iqbal.

Inspector General of Police Punjab Shoaib Dastgir ordered fast action against the criminal elements for the protection and service of passengers on the highways so that the citizens have to face minimum problems during the journey. Additional IG PHP Captain (R) Zafar Iqbal Awan (Satara Imtiaz), while talking about the performance of Punjab Highway Patrol for the last fifteen days, said that the PHP launched special campaign against criminal elements in all the districts of the province from December 16 to December 31. During this campaign special operations were carried out against  illegal arms, drug dealers and proclaimed offenders. While narrating the figures, the chair said that in connection with the illegal arms operation, recovered 03 Kalashnikovs, 10 rifles, 09 guns and more than 50 pistols and the accused were put behind bars. Similarly, more than 1582 liters of alcohol and 15 kilograms of charas were recovered in the crackdown against drug dealers while a total of 1292 accused were arrested during crackdown against proclaimed offenders, including three notorious of A category POs, 34 proclaimed offenders of B category, 26 court absconders And 1232 other nominated  accused have been arrested in different cases. Additional IG PHP Captain (R) Zafar Iqbal Awan further said that the PHP team took timely action and succeeded in rescuing a drowning woman in Nankana District. According to the details, the PHP Aliabad district nanka team, while on patrolling, saw a drowning woman in Kutch Kothi Canal, upon  which Constable Zeeshan Altaf jumped into the canal and rescued  the woman's life and contacted  the woman's family. according to the policy of IG Punjab Shoaib Dastgir, constable Zeeshan was awarded with department's complimentary certificate and cash prize.
