Crackdown on wanted men

GUJRAT: The police have launched an operation against outlaws and fugitives in Gujranwala division.

A spokesman for the regional police told Dawn on Friday the drive aimed at arresting the people wanted in terrorism, murder, dacoity, robbery, abduction for ransom and other such offences. He claimed 1,535 POs were arrested in March, of which 1,268 were “dangerous”.

Around 120 proclaimed offenders were involved in cases of dacoity, 201 in robbery and one in abduction for ransom. Furthermore, the Gujrat police extradited two people through Interpol.

Police officers have been tasked with arresting theproclaimed offenders through all available resources and they will be rewarded for meeting the tasks and punished in case of any laxity.
