Vehari Police arrested 167 POs, 157 drug dealers in March

On the directives Punjab Inspector General of Police Inam Ghani, crackdown on anti-social elements and criminals is underway at a brisk pace in all the districts of the province while the operation against proclaimed offenders, those dealing in illegal weapons and drugs has especial been intensified. In this regard, Vehari Police under the leadership of District Police Officer Zahid Nawaz Marwat took emergency measures last month to arrest anti-social elements and achieved significant success The Vehari Police arrested p 167 proclaimed offenders involved in serious incidents including murder, dacoity, robbery and looting including 15A category and 152B category.

During this period, Vehari police traced 154 cases of property crime and after tracing the cases, they recovered property worth more than Rs4.4 million while arrested 14 members of 7 gangs and ensuring financial recovery of more than Rs1.872million. Besides, conducting operations against criminals, 111 accused were arrested and heavy weapons were seized from their possession. Illegally recovered arms include 2 Kalashnikovs, 16 guns, 03 rifles, 86 pistols, 05 revolvers, 2 carbines and hundreds of bullets. 157 accused were arrested while taking action against anti-social elements and 95 kilo chars , 4128 liters alcohol and liquor, 14 kilns and distillers were recovered.

In implementation of the National Action Plan, 66 cases were registered out of which 26 cases were registered for violation of Loudspeaker Act, 34 against Security Ordinance and 06 cases against Tenancy Act. Besides, 105 cases of over speeding, 16 cases of power theft, 15 cases of fireworks, 5 cases of illegal gas refilling, 10 cases of bogus number plates, 2 cases of open sale of petrol, 2 cases of sale of substandard cylinders in vehicles and 10 cases of gambling act have been registered in different police stations of Vehari district. DPO Vehari Zahid Nawaz Marwat said that the convenience of the citizens is being given priority during the operations against anti-social elements so that the sense of security among the people is more prominent and they consider the police as their helper.
