LAHORE–The Punjab government has decided to provide additional 17 vehicles, equipped with modern technical devices and gadgets, to the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).
The government has also released funds for the improvement of Elite Police Force (EPF) mobility in all Punjab districts.
This vital decision, which exhibits the Punjab government’s strong resolve to counter the terrorism, was taken at Austerity committee meeting on Thursday. Senior Advisor Sirdar Zulfiqar Ali Khosa presided over the meeting which also took decisions to meet the needs of educational and technical institutions.
The accessibility of vehicles will make the CTD and the EPF more effective in tracing out the terrorism culprits besides eliminating terrorism network.
Addressing the meeting participants Sirdar Khosa said that more vehicles will facilitate the CTD to counter the evil elements as well as to a keep an eye on the militants’ secret activities that are promoting sectarianism.
The Austerity committee also approved funds for the purchase of furniture in schools being run by the City District Government, providing computer tables to 38 elementary schools of Sahiwal district and to meet missing facilities in the schools established under non-formal education system.
The Committee also okayed release of funds for setting up computer labs in 58 community learning centres and Technical training centres located in various southern Punjab districts such as Sadiqabad, Esa Khel, Sammundari, Kanganpur and Pind Dadan Khan.
The meeting approved the provision of still cameras to all divisional information offices and the Culture Department for the coverage of government functions.
It also approved the installation of security cameras in working women hostels of Provincial Women Development Department at Muzaffargarh, Rahim Yar Khan, Gujrat and Sialkot.
The meeting also approved the computerization of Centre of Excellence at Jinnah Hospital, purchase of equipment for Blood Transfusion Authority Lahore and Drug Testing Laboratory Bahawalpur.
On the proposal of purchasing new vehicles by some departments, Austerity committee decided that vehicles numbers should be rationalized and resubmitted after proper appropriation according to the entitlement of the relevant officers after which funds would be released.
