Oct 01, 2014

LAHORE: The city police chief Tuesday issued a fresh warning to field officers to avoid misbehaving with the citizens.

He said both the station house officer (SHO) and the beat in-charge of the police station concerned would be responsible for action against such elements in their respective territories.

CCPO Amin Wains was addressing a joint meeting of SHOs and beat in-charges of Iqbal Town division and public safety committees at the Muslim Town Community Centre.

He said strict legal and departmental action would be taken against policemen patronising criminals and harassing citizens at police pickets and during patrol.

Mr Wains said cooperation of the citizens would be sought for rooting out crimes and maintaining law and order. Besides activating the beat system, beat safety committees, comprising the nobles of the area, had been constituted and they would operate under police-public partnership.

He said the citizens at police stations and on roads would be dealt polite and in a courteous way and every effort would be made for resolution to their problems.

The CCPO directed the SHOs and beat in-charges to evolve a comprehensive system of patrol and picketing for eradication of crime in their areas. He asked the members of beat safety committees to play their conciliatory role for resolving problems of their areas and support police.
