Jul 02, 2015
LAHORE  - The Lahore police Wednesday claimed to have solved five blind murder cases. The police investigators also produced the alleged killers before the media at a news conference held at the Police Lines Qila Gujjar Singh.

“We have successfully solved another five blind murder cases by arresting four gangsters. Out of total 163 blind murders reported this year so far in Lahore, we have solved 121 cases. The investigators are struggling hard to unearth the killers involved in 42 pending cases,” Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Muhammad Amin Wains told reporters during the press briefing.

DIG (Investigations) Sultan Chaudhry, SSP (Investigations) Rana Ayaz Saleem, and SP of the CIA police Muhammad Omar Virk were also present on this occasion.

The killers confessed that they murdered the victims either in armed robberies or after they refused to pay extortion. They were identified as Muhammad Azeem, a resident of Bhagatpura Shadbagh, Muhammad Qasim and Muhammad Waqas of Chah Miran, and Aqib Saleem of Islamia Park Lahore.

Aqib Saleem told police that Waqas along with his accomplices had gunned down Sohail alias Vicky near Nakhuda Chowk in Misri Shah nine months ago.

A cable-operator by profession, Aqib Saleem, further said he butchered Musarrat Saleem on Pounch Road in Samanabad nine month ago.

The killer had visited the house to repair a cable when the lady was alone there but he decided to kill the woman to commit a robbery.

He also admitted that he murdered a 25-year-old Rabia Rafi in Chouburji Quarters eight years ago. The gangster had visited the house to repair a cable but murdered the young woman during a theft.

The accused, Muhammad Azeem and Muhammad Qasim, confessed that they had shot dead a shopkeeper Bashir Ahmed and injured his nephew Zohaib Ahmed for extortion.

Bashir Ahmed, a shopkeeper in Gowalmandi, had been killed a drive-by shooting in Misri Shah.

According to police, the same accused Azeem and Qasim had abducted Waqas, a resident of Salamatpura, and fled after throwing his bullet-riddled body near Kumahan Road in Nishtar Colony.

While responding to media queries, the CCPO said the police were preparing a comprehensive security plan for Youm-e-Ali (RA) to maintain peace.

About the National Action Plan, he said the cabinet committee meeting approved a mechanism for intelligence-sharing between security forces and intelligence agencies.

“We are working very closely with the intelligence agencies since our country has been facing multiple security threats on the internal and external fronts.”

Amin said specially trained police units are reserved to quickly respond to militants on the basis on available intelligence.
