‘Public-police liaison to check crime'

CCPO Muhammad Amin Wains has said issues of people will be solved through police-public partnership under Beat Safety Committees and criminals will be dealt with an iron hand.
 
He expressed these views while he was addressing a joint meeting of SHOs, beat in charges of City Division and public safety committees in Shahdra on Wednesday. DIG Operations, Dr Haider Ashraf, SP City Operations, Asad Sarfraz, SP Security, Malik Liaqat, SP CRO Umar Cheema, SP Traffic Rana Shu-jaat and MPA Ghazali Saleem Butt were present.
 
The CCPO warned Moharars that strict action will be taken against them if they were found involved in misbehaving with visitors at the police stations. He added they should consider public as their own family members and deal with them with respect.
 
The CCPO said SHOs will give proper respect and weight to the members of Beat Safety Committees.
 
The MPA suggested that the members of Beat Safety Committees should be selected carefully so that notables could solve problems of the people.
 
DIG Operations said strict legal and departmental action will be taken against police officials patronising criminal elements and harassing the citizens at police pickets and during patrolling.
 
He said cooperation of citizens will be sought for the eradication of crime and maintenance of law and order in the city.
 
Beat Safety Committees comprising elite of the area have been constituted for this purpose which will operate under police-public partnership.
