LAHORE: More than 50 suspects and hardened criminals were arrested during search operations across the city on Thursday night, while police remained on high alert to prevent any untoward situation during Friday prayers.
Police sources said that the security arrangements were beefed up at all the city mosques, other religious places, markets, government and important buildings, while specially trained snipers were deployed on rooftops of buildings located adjacent to important buildings and places of worship in the city.
A senior police officer told Daily Times that a high profile meeting of senior police officers was held to chalk out a foolproof security plan to maintain law and order in the city during the holy month.
Sources disclosed that a massive search operation was underway in the city in collaboration with the secret agencies of the country and the police had close in on the real terrorists and criminals who were involved in target killings, firing on police pickets and other spots in Lahore. staff report
