Security plan chalked out for Eid

LAHORE–City police have finalised a comprehensive security plan to maintain law and order and to avoid any untoward happening on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha as more than 10,000 cops would remain on high-alert across the metropolis.

Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ahmad Raza Tahir on Thursday unveiled the security plan and said that the police would remain on their toes on the occasion of Eid with massive deployment of force all over the provincial metropolis.

The CCPO said in order to achieve this objective, more than 10,000 police officials including divisional SPs, Supervisory Police Officers (SPOs), SHOs, Sub-Inspectors, and Assistant Sub Inspectors have been deputed at various sensitive points in the City.

He said that the police would also carry out massive armed patrolling in the sensitive areas to ensure foolproof security around leading public places and religious gatherings.

He said that additional police force has also been deputed at important places including shopping centres and markets of sacrificial animals, established by the city district government to provide security the public.

Tahir informed that thousands of policemen would perform their duty in order to provide foolproof security on the occasion of prayers of Eid at all Masajids and Imambargahs. He further said that police officials, equipped with metal detectors would be deputed at mosques, imambargahs and other religious places. The CCPO also directed the police officers to make foolproof arrangements at the entry points of the city to carry out checking of suspicious persons and vehicles.

Tahir said that officers and officials of the police would celebrate Eid-ul-Azha by ensuring peaceful atmosphere for the citizens. The CCPO called upon the police personnel to leave no stone unturned to serve the masses and eradicate scourge of crime from the society.

He said a special traffic plan has also been prepared to ensure smooth flow of traffic on roads during Eid holidays and additional traffic wardens have been deputed at important roads and busy areas. He said officials of Police Emergency 15 would also remain on high alert in order to take prompt action on the complaints of citizens.

The CCPO appealed to the religious leaders and citizens to completely cooperate with the police to make its security plan a success.

Tahir also appealed to the people to extend their wholehearted cooperation for the eradication of terrorism and inform police about criminals or suspicious elements and vehicles.
