LAHORE, Aug 5: Operations DIG Ghulam Mahmood Dogar has said special security arrangements have been finalised to thwart any untoward incident during Ramazan.

He said the senior police officials had been given special assignments as per security plan and no negligence in this regard would be tolerated.

He was talking to reporters after reviewing security arrangements at the shrine of Data Gunj Bakhsh Hazrat Ali Hajveri (RA) on Friday.

He said the police had been put on high alert so that people could feel comfortable while visiting the holy sites. He also ordered some modifications to the shrine’s security plan.

The DIG said all police personnel deputed at the shrines, mosques and other worship places had been equipped with latest gadgets, including metal detectors, to frisk every devotee and visitor. Similarly, CCTV cameras had been installed to keep an eye on the movement of visitors.

DIG Dogar warned the police officials that their absence from designated site would be treated as a major act of negligence.

Earlier, at an open court at his office, the DIG directed the station house officers to behave the visitors politely.

On a complaint filed by Surraya Bibi, of Nawankot, Dogar directed the Iqbal Town SP to redress her grievance.

He also directed the chief traffic officer to take notice of a complaint against a warden, who allegedly tortured a labourer.

He directed the Sanda SHO to take strict action against some assailants who teased a complainant, Ghulam Ali.

The DIG also issued instructions to the police officials concerned on several other complaints of the people who visited the open court.
