Crime rate for Nov goes down

BAHAWALPUR: The number of crimes reported in November this year is lower than that reported in November 2011. A police statement on Tuesday said the number of murder cases filed in November this year was 10, down from 13 cases filed the year before.

The number of robberies reported fell from eight last November to four this November.

The number of street crimes reported fell from 23 last November to six this November.

The number of vehicle thefts reported fell from 20 last November to six this November.

The number of rape cases reported fell from 31 last November to 21 this November.

Muhammad Imran, PRO to DPO Sohail Habib Tajik, said the DPO’s decision to reward and punish police officers for performance had helped curb the crime rate.

Separately, a Samasatta police patrol arrested a suspected drug pusher, Sajid Hussain, on Tuesday and recovered 250g of hashish. Saddar police seized 22 litres of liquor and arrested suspected bootlegger, Hussain.
