Two men arrested, weapons seized

MULTAN: Cantonment police on Wednesday arrested two men for bringing weapons to the Lahore High Court.

ASI Shafaqat Ali told newsmen that his team was on duty at the court premises. when a mini-van stopped at the entrance and 17 people came out.

He said some of them went away on the police.

He said when officials tried to question the men, most of them fled. However, the police managed to detain Muhammad Ehsan and Muhammad Tariq.

A 0.44-bore rifle, 22 bullets and two magazines were recovered from the van.

During interrogation, Tariq said his wife had filed a petition against him. Tariq confessed to planning to kidnap his estranged wife, who was also scheduled to appear before the court.

‘Drug dealers’ arrested

Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested 10 drug dealers and bootleggers. Police also seized one kilogram hashish and 56 litres of liquor from them.

The police also arrested eight men from various parts of the city for carrying illegal weapons.
