CCPO orders action against inflammatory speeches

Jan 08, 2015

LAHORE: Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) retired Capt Amin Wains has said police need help from people to implement the National Action Programme against terrorism.

He was addressing officers at a meeting for the implementation of the plan on Wednesday in Police Lines, Qila Gujjar Singh.

The CCPO expressed concern over the breach of ban on use of loudspeaker in mosques and other places as a measure to maintain inter-religious harmony. He ordered police to take strict action against those delivering inflammatory speeches and pictures besides sealing CD shops.

He ordered cancellation of weapon licences of those involved in firearms crimes, aerial firing and displaying weapons.

He also suggested police focus on mobile pickets rather than establishing permanent checkpoints.

He said police officials should conduct an operation daily in suspected areas. He also ordered all divisional SPs to liaise with educational institutes in their areas by installation of an emergency button.
