ISLAMABAD - High-ups of Islamabad Capital Territory police on Sunday announced the notables of the society have been given special representation in `Citizen-Police Coordination Committees’.
The decision, they said, was taken following the direction of the Interior Minister and was aimed to safeguard the interests of citizens and immediately addressing the grievances of complainants being filed with police stations.
“On the special directions of Minister for Interior Ch. Nisar Ali Khan, the Islamabad police have taken special measures to ensure community policing so that disputes of minor nature could be reconciled among the parties,” a press note issued from the office of IG ICT police quoted him as saying.
The police-public cooperation is being enhanced in order to strengthen trust-building measures. The concept of friendly police is being promoted and creation of friendly atmosphere is being ensured at the Police Stations.
Representatives of these Committees have been urged to work honestly and with devotion in order to solve the problems of general public.
It has been focused that there should be no gap between police and public and crime control measures should be made more effective with mutual cooperation.
These committees have priority areas including resolving community problems on immediate basis, inculcating friendly police ecology with polite and decent attitude, providing enhanced security atmosphere, provision of better working environment and end to indecent practices from police stations.
As a part of effective policing measures and maintain high vigilance against criminal elements, Islamabad and Rawalpindi police have also established joint police pickets in various areas of the twin cities.
These police pickets have been set up as per comprehensive security plan for twin cities, which has been chalked out following the directions of the Minister for Interior. The purpose of this plan is to ensure protection to the lives and property of the citizens.
Following this security plan, rapid response force of Pakistan Rangers has been deputed in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, which would approach at the site in case of any untoward incident.
Search operations are also being conducted in various localities to nab suspects and several criminals have been arrested during this action.
Islamabad Traffic Police launched campaign against lane violation and ensure implementation on traffic rules. Steps to ensure smooth flow of traffic are bringing fruitful results and further efforts are underway to maintain traffic discipline in the city.
