DERA GHAZI KHAN, Oct 9: Taunsa Sadar police registered a murder case on Wednesday against 17 people for shooting at and killing two police officers in an encounter on Oct 7 near village Rahul.
 
Police also registered a case against Mamdani SHO Amanullah for allegedly helping the suspects.
 
On Oct 7, police officials encountered motorcycle snatchers and exchanged fire near Ruhal village. The gunfire left Inspector Mujtaba Gurmani and Sub-Inspector Irshad Jamoani dead and their bodies remained in the custody of the gang for 18 hours.
 
Later, they left the bodies behind and disappeared in the mountains on donkeys taking a cover of darkness.
 
Taunsa Sadar police registered a murder case against 17 proclaimed offenders, including Ishaq, Ghafoor, Younis, Rasooli, Khalili, Lateef and Nazeera.
 
Commandant of the Border Military Police Muhammad Riaz said the SHO was on duty when the operation was in progress. He said a departmental inquiry would be held into the issue. — Correspondent
