Police arrested robbery gang member

Bahawalpur:Police announced on Thursday they had arrested a member of a notorious robbers’ gang, involved in more than a dozen street crimes.

Talking to journalists at his office, City DSP Riaz Hussain Bukhari said Laar Gang had been behind the recent wave of street crimes in the city.

“The gang has committed more than a dozen burglaries in Baghdadul Jadeed, Civil Lines, Cantonment and Kotwali areas in the past three months,” he said.

“A team was constituted to trace the gang. It included Kotwali SHO Sheikh Waseem Aslam, Shikarpuri Checkpost In-charge SI Muhammad Riaz,” the DSP said.

He said the team arrested suspect Muhammad Lateef, who had confessed to committing robberies in Model Town B area, Bund Road, Seraiki Chowk and Circular Road.

Bukhari said police would present the suspect before a judge today (Friday).

He said police teams were conducting raids to arrest the rest of the gang members as soon as possible.
