Suspected terrorist arrested

RAWALPINDI, Nov 10: A wanted terror suspect allegedly involved in the terrorist attack on Shah-i-Najaf Imambargah in Khyaban-e-Sir Syed in 2002 was arrested as claimed by the police on Thursday.

The government had announced Rs200,000 head money for the arrest of Qari Gul Mohammad who was desperately wanted by the law enforcement agencies for his involvement in the terrorist attack.

Besides Qari Gul Mohammad, four other terror suspects have been on the government`s wanted list in the same case as 14 suspects had already been captured and they are being tried.

At least 11 worshippers were killed and 14 were injured when a group of heavily armed gunmen wearing masks attacked Shah-i-Najaf Imambargah, Khayaban-e-Sir Syed, Rawalpindi on Feb 26, 2002.

The accused having links with banned outfit Lashkar-e-Jhangvi had been declared as proclaimed offender.

According to the police, the terror suspect was arrested from Pirwadhai area and he would be produced before the anti-terrorist court for remand.
