Gujranwala, Aug 11: Ghakhar Town police foiled an attempted robbery in the main bazaar and arrested over a dozen accused and several miscreants late on Thursday.

On a tip-off that some robbers were roaming in the main bazaar to loot women customers, town SHO Munawar along with his staff reached there and sealed all roads leading to the bazaar. He arrested the accused when they attempted to flee on their motorcycles.

The SHO continued patrolling all bazaars overnight and arrested about a dozen miscreants who were harassing women in markets. He provided full protection to women customers until next morning.

Later, he beefed up tight security at all Eidgahs by deploying heavy contingents of police force. He also took several youths into custody for one-wheeling on GT Road. The SHO warned that drug-pushers and criminals would not be given a free hand, instead they would be sent behind bars.
