Dacoits involved in looting houses of IGs, minister arrested

CIA have arrested five robbers involved in looting the houses of two former IGs, a federal minister, renowned doctors, industrialists and factory owners.

Loot worth Rs 200 million and hand grenades, rifles and pistols were seized from their possession.

Provincial Law Minister Rana Sanaullah and Lahore CCPO Chaudhry Shafique Ahmad said this while addressing a joint press conference at Qila Gujjar Singh Police Lines on Thursday.

The provincial minister appreciated the outstanding performance of Lahore police and asked the media persons to highlight the police performance.

The CCPO said that the arrested robbers, identified as Hassan alias Bhalla, Raja Shamrez, Waseem alias Nasir, Shakeel Kiani and Naseem Kashmiri, had confessed to committing 57 robberies in Lahore, Karachi, Sheikhupura, Rawalpindi, Peshawar and Azad Kashmir.

He said that the robbers used to carry hand grenades and Kalashnikovs with them when they targeted their prey. The Investigation DIG said that the arrested robbers had looted the houses of 23 industrialists, two former IGs, traders and factory owners. He said that the members of the gang used to wear masks to hide their identity and gloves to avoid their arrest through fingerprints.
