13 bikes, sizeable narcotics seized

MIANWALI: Mianwali police claimed to have recovered 13 motorcycles, a huge quantity of narcotics and illegal weapons after raids in different parts of the district.

DPO Mujahid Akbar Khan told reporters on Sunday that a few days back a police party had intercepted a bus en route from Mansehra to Karachi near Harnoli check-post on Mianwali-Multan Road. On search, the police recovered 34kg contraband in two bags hidden in a cavity of the bus. The police arrested four alleged smugglers identified as Ashiq Hussain, Mukhtar Ahmed, Arif Rehman and Said Muhammad Khan.

The DPO said the police also busted a notorious Shafiqa gang involved in stealing motorcycles from different parts of Mianwali. Police arrested Shafique, Imtiaz, Ramzan and Irfan and recovered 13 bikes from them.

He said the police foiled another smuggling attempt of illicit weapons from KP on the border of the district in the limits of Makarwal police station and seized seven Kalashnikovs, 11 12-bore guns, 68 30-bore pistols, one 12-bore pistol, six 32-bore pistols and six rifles. However, the smugglers managed to disappear in the darkness.
