CM orders strategy to check kidnap for ransom

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif Thursday said that maintenance of law and order was top priority of the government, asking police not to spare any effort for protecting the life and property of the people.

He was addressing the assembly members belonging to Rawalpindi division at Chief Minister’s Secretariat here senior Advisor Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khosa and Provincial Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan were also present.

The CM said it was the duty of police to curb crimes and ensure provision of justice to the common man without any discrimination.

He issued directions to evolve a comprehensive strategy for eliminating kidnapping for ransom and other heinous crimes. In case of illegal possession of government or private land in any district, local administration and police will be held accountable, he said.

He stressed upon the assembly members to visit hospitals and review the medical facilities being provided to the patients there. Approving a number of development projects presented by the assembly members, the CM said that it was the responsibility of elected representatives to get completed development projects in their respective areas so that people could benefit from these projects as early as possible.
