Girl recovered, 3 abductors held

OKARA: A five-year-old girl was recovered at Data Darbar, Lahore, after paying ransom while the police arrested three accused.
 
Giving details to journalists on Sunday, DPO Babar Bakht Qureshi said that 5-year-old Laiba, daughter of Muhammad Zafar of Mehboob Town, was kidnapped about a week ago. Later, the kidnappers contacted the girl’s parents by phone and demanded Rs 1 million for her release. The parents contacted the police as they could not arrange for the ransom amount. The DPO assigned the task to DSP Headquarters Saleem Warraich who with the help of Inspector Tariq Awan and B-Division SHO Inspector Muhammad Yousuf traced the location of the kidnappers through mobile phone data.
 
In the meantime, the accused took Laiba to Murree from where they contacted her parents for ransom. An amount of Rs 100,000 was arranged with the help of the police and under close police watch Laiba’s father Muhammad Zafar reached Murree and succeeded to convince the kidnappers to receive Rs 100,000 and release his daughter. The kidnappers promised to release the girl somewhere in Lahore. Later, they left the girl at Data Darbar, Lahore, the DPO said.
 
After the recovery of the girl, the police arrested three kidnappers, Asim Irshad of Chak 54/2L, his brother Muhammad Atif and Naqash Sikandar of Rehan Colony. The police have registered a case and started investigation.
