Six-member gang smashed

LAHORE – City police on Sunday claimed to have smashed a gang of robbers by arresting its six members including the ringleader, involved in many incidents of robberies and other street crimes.  According to officials, the Baghbanpura police arrested 6 persons allegedly involved in robberies and dacoities. The police also claimed that they recovered looted valuables and illegal weapons from their possession.  The police have identified the arrested men as Shahbaz Ahmad alias Ghoso, the ringleader of Ghusu Dacoit gang, and his accomplices including Shahbaz alias Tida, Amir alias Amri, Ghulam Mustafa, Shahzad alias Kaka and Afzaal alias Lali.  During preliminary investigations, police said, arrested bandits confessed to 23 incidents of robberies that they had committed in different areas.  Meanwhile, Badami Bagh police claimed to have arrested two hardened criminals during raids on Sunday.  The police identified as the arrested criminals as Habib Masih and Idrees Masih. Police said that both criminals were wanted to them in several cases of crimes of heinous nature. Police also recovered illegal weapons from their possession. Further investigations were underway.
