Strict security during Muharram ordered

LAHORE – The CCPO said comprehensive security cover would be provided to all Majails and processions during the month of Muharramul Haram.

He was talking to a 20-member Shia Ulema delegation of Majlis Wahdat-ul-Muslimeen which called on him at CCPO office, under the leadership of its Chairman Alhaj Haidar Ali Mirza here on Thursday. DIG Operations, SSP Operations, SSP Discipline and Inspection SSP Admin and all divisional SPs were also present on the occasion.

The CCPO said a three-layered security system would be implemented to ensure law and order and peaceful conduct of Majails and processions during Muharram, for which final shape had been given with relevant institutions, including Rescue 1122, hospitals, WASA, WAPDA, telephone and all related agencies. He also said Ulema would have to play an effective role in order to purge anti-social elements from the society, besides propagating message of peace, harmony and brotherhood during the Muharram. He said by following the golden principles of Islam, which teaches us unity and brotherhood, all heinous crimes, including terrorism, can be purged from the society.

The CCPO further said more than 12,000 policemen would provide security cover during Muharram at 4,000 Majalis and 640 processions, while armed personals would also be deputed to provide security to different programs to be held on daily basis.
