Sep 18, 2013
LAHORE - CHIEF Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed the inspector general police Punjab to ensure transparency in the recruitment process of 5,000 constables in 12 districts of the province.

In a statement on Tuesday, he said the written test for constables’ recruitment would be conducted by an independent agency instead of the police department. He said the special test would be designed on the pattern of engineering and medical entrance test with the cooperation of the National Testing Service (NTS), University of Engineering & Technology (UET) and University of Health Sciences (UHS). He stressed that recruitment process should be made transparent and all the seats should be filled on merit.

Meanwhile, the inspector general police Punjab constituted a committee for each district to supervise the recruitment process. Similarly, he formed a Physical Standard Review Board, headed by sessions judges, to conduct physical fitness tests.
