Strategy to ensure law, order on Yaum-e-Ali (RA)

LAHORE: CAPITAL City Police Officer (CCPO) Ahmad Raza Tahir has said that a comprehensive strategy has been evolved by the Lahore police to ensure law and order on the occasion of Yaum-e-Shahdat Hazrat Ali in close coordination with the stakeholders and other nation building institutions.

The CCPO has directed that entry and exit points of all Majalis and processions should be located at one place while the organisers should ensure that no stranger or unknown person clad in mourning cloths should enter Majlis or processions without prior verification and authentication.

The CCPO has further directed the Lahore police to ensure that no display of arms take place in any Majalis or religious processions.

In his orders, the CCPO has further directed proper and thorough checking of all places before the commencement of Majalis and processions along with ensuring that no unclaimed items or freshly dug up manhole remains without checking so that nothing is hidden in it. He said all mourners should be checked comprehensively and thoroughly with complete respect while ensuring that no part of his body remained without checking. The checking staff and the local administration should start their checking at the outer security zone whereas streets, roads and mohallas adjacent to the route of procession ought to be completely closed and sealed.

Furthermore, the CCPO also directed installation of search lights on the routes of places of processions and Majalis on roofs to keep the surroundings well-lit. He also said the organisers should also check the women participants of processions and Majalis with the help of women volunteers along with ensuring alternate electricity arrangements in the shape of generators and UPS. Ahmad Raza Tahir also directed that the parking of vehicles and motorcycles ought to be made well away from Majalis and processions while any vehicle with tinted glasses or without number plates ought to be informed about to the police.

The CCPO has also appealed to the organisers to arrange video recordings of Majalis and processions and disperse the people at the end in a gradual manner so that no crowd is created. Ahmad Raza Tahir has also appealed to the citizens to inform about new tenants in their concerned areas to the local police.
