Gang of dacoits busted

LAHORE, Oct 1: The Model Town CIA police arrested a four-member gang involved in robberies, street crime and bank robberies.

According to a press release, Capital City Police Officer Chaudhry Shafiq Ahmed took notice of rising incidents of mugging in the city and directed DIG (Investigation) Zulfiqar Hameed and CIA SP Umar Virk to nab those responsible.

A police team, headed by Model Town CIA DSP Anwar Saeed Kingra, gathered information and managed to arrest ringleader Muhmmad Qurban along with his accomplices Sarfraz, Jazib and Mansoor while they were trying to flee a crime scene.

Police also recovered looted items worth Rs1.4 million and illegal weapons from them.

The dacoits would mainly target those who were withdrawing cash from ATM machines.

During interrogation, the gang confessed to looting several citizens and committing robberies in Model Town, Kahna, Gulberg, Old Anarkali and Islampura. According to the press release, DIG (Investigation) Zulfiqar Hameed announced cash rewards and appreciation certificates for the police team.
