Police put on red alert for Xmas eve

LAHORE: THE police had been put on high alert for Christmas Eve to cope with any possible threat of terrorism in provincial metropolis.

Talking to a 15-member delegation of Christians here on Wednesday, CCPO Lahore said police commandos had been deputed at all churches of the City. He said around 3,000 police officials would perform duty at 450 churches in the City. All the churches have been divided in four categories A, B, C, and D.

A high police official would be deputed with police at “A” Category churches and sharpshooters would also be deputed at the roofs of churches. Additional force would also be deputed at entry and exit points to the city.

He warned that nobody would be allowed to display arms on this occasion.

He directed the divisional SPs to personally monitor the performance of the force under their command and daily submit performance report. “In case of any negligence or mismanagement, action would be taken not only against the respective SHO and the Incharge investigation but explanation would also be sought from the concerned SDPO,” he added.
