24 suspects arrested in Chuhng

LAHORE: At least 24 suspects were arrested during a search operation carried out by police and intelligence agencies in Chuhng circle on Tuesday.
 
The operation headed by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Irfan Samon was carried out in the localities around Chuhng police training centre after receiving alerts from different intelligence agencies about the presence of militants there.
 
The ASP said during the operation Bilal Colony and different private hostels were combed and residents were questioned.
 
He said 24 suspects were taken into custody and shifted to different police stations for interrogation. Out of them, 14 suspects failed to produce their identification documents and 10 were interrogated over suspicion, he added.
 
City police, after receiving security alerts from intelligence agencies, were carrying out search operations. Police were also using biometric machines for the identification of residents of different divisions.
 
Meanwhile, police claimed to have arrested seven suspects in an operation in Mughalpura area. The suspects were said to be Afghan nationals.
