92 kg heroin seized, smuggler arrested

LAHORE: SADDAR division police on Friday arrested a smuggler and seized 92 kg heroin worth Rs 640 million from his possession. This was claimed by DIG Operations Ghulam Mehmood, flanked by SP Saddar Division Shoaib Khurram Janbaz, while chairing a press briefing at his office.

The DIG Operations said an informer informed police about smuggling of heroin via Lahore and that the culprits had rented a house in Raiwind City where they store it. He said police party under the supervision of Saddar SP Shoiab Khurram kept the culprits under surveillance after receiving information. He said that on Friday police party after receiving confirmation about the presence of culprits inside the house raided the place and arrested Riffat Ullah and seized 92 kilogram heroin worth about Rs 640 millions from there.

The DIG Operations said that Riffat Ullah’s five accomplices were still at large and a police team had been formed to arrest them. The DIG said that Riffat Ullah and his accomplices used to smuggle heroin, stuffed in brands packets, to different European countries, including the United Kingdom by ships. The DIG said the smugglers brought heroin from Afghanistan to Pakistan and later stored it in a house in Raiwind City where they complete work of packing. The DIG said that they were working to arrest the racket. He said that foreigners were also involved in this business.

Capital City Police Officer Ahmed Raza Tahir and top officials of the Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) have announced Rs 100,000 cash each for the raiding party officials.
