SPs directed to monitor dengue activities

Lahore – Additional Inspector General of Police Establishment and Headquarters Muhammad Aslam Tareen has directed the divisional SPs of the provincial capital to monitor all the activities and efforts being carried out by the City Police against dengue epidemic.

Following special directives by Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, the Addl IGP chaired a meeting on Monday at office of the City’s operations police chief, also attended by DIG Operations Ghulam Mahmood Dogar, SSP Operations Shaukat Abbas, SPs including CRO Branch Sajjad Manj, Omer Saeed Malik, Muntazir Mehdi, Hashmat Kamal, and others.

Giving briefing to Aslam Tareen, the DIG GM Dogar said that around 20,000 pamphlets and posters inscribed with necessary preventive measures and instructions have been distributed among the general public so far.

He said dozens of such posters had also been displayed on leading hospitals’ walls and private clinics. The DIG further briefed that a strict action has been taken against about 200 shop keepers on several public complaints of over charging of dengue control medicines whereas 400 tyre shops have been shut down on violating the government instructions.

Later, Addl IG Aslam Tareen directed the divisional SPs to submit reports of their performance on daily basis regarding the dengue epidemic. He further instructed to ensure proper fumigation in and outside the police stations.
