Police plan to nab terror suspect

Faisalabad, June 5: Police are working on a strategy to arrest a terror suspect who belongs to North waziristan. Police believe that an explosive laden vehicle, which arrived in Faisalabad on May 23, is owned by the terror suspect in question. Sources told Dawn that police had been trying to find contacts in North waziristan to get custody of the suspect. They were contacting police officials serving there for this purpose. Moreover, police would write a letter to the local Political Agent, seeking his help for the arrest of the suspect.

 
Ghulam Mohammadabad police found arms and explosive material like three suicide jackets, 57 bullets, 10 Russian and two locally made hand grenades, 10 remote controlled kits, 14 electronic detonators, 19 detonators with strikers, four striker assembly, four detonators, two pistols with 75 bullets, four Russian Kalashnikovs with 20 magazines, one USP device pin, two cylinders, one walky-talky and two kilograms of explosive powder in the vehicle a couple of days ago.
 
Ghulam Mohammadabad SHO Rana Asif had been using the explosives-laden vehicle after it was seized on May 23, without getting it thoroughly checked. City Police Officer Raja Riffat Mukhtar suspended Rana Asif and got a case registered against him. Asif was produced before a court of law on Wednesday, but the judge refused him bail.
