The police on Monday proposed six posts on the Ring Road.
The proposal was sent to the home secretary on the request of the Lahore Ring Road Authority.
The places where the police posts are proposed to be located are: Shadbagh, Karol Ghati, Mehmood Booti, Sharif Pura (Bheni Road), Bedian Road and Kamahan.
According to Lahore Ring Road Authority officials, there was not much serious crime on the Ring Road but there was a need for more manpower to curb thefts. They said that around 20 cases of robbery had been reported on the Ring Road this year.
Officials said that most of the robberies had taken place in Shadbagh, Lakhodeir and Kamaha. They revealed that in Warogujrain and Shadbagh, besides robberies, several cases of firing in the air had been reported.
SP Salman Ali Khan said that the proposal establishing police posts on Ring Road was discussed in a meeting of Lahore Ring Road Authority last year with the chief minister. He said these posts would be established by the district police which would maintain liaison with Lahore Ring Road police. He said that the meeting had also decided to increase police patrolling.
